Hope the sun comes out today I hope it washes all these feelings from me Hope for somewhere better Hope there’s somewhere in this world for me Hope to sleep the night through Hope the monsters all stay beneath the bed Hope to last the day I hope the monsters all stay buried in my head Hope for somewhere better Hope I find out where before it’s too late Hope the sun comes out today Before the ice around my heart is too great Hope to last the day I hope my thoughts don’t find the shadows of my mind Hope for somewhere better Hope that someday everything will be alright

about

written as a mantra for facing the world each day while living with chronic depression- a cautiously optimistic anthem of hope that the world will be accepting of us and that the damaging voices in our heads will remain quiet, if only for today. In wake of covid-19, and now the civil unrest currently gripping US cities, we have come to view the song as representing something bigger: a hope that we as a nation and world will overcome our collective inner-demons and move through the pain and uncertainty of this moment towards somewhere better and brighter.
